This is a winery I’ve been wanting to visit for some time. When Aary and I were planning a Girls’ Day, it wasn’t difficult to put this one on the list. I had Bushmaster’s blessing to visit without him and report back. He said we could always go back. Spoiler alert! Yes, we will be going back!
The tasting room was completely charming. They were getting ready for a dinner event but still made sure we had a great experience with our visit.
We sampled from the following:
- 2015 Trotter White Wine – Gewurztraminer/Traminette blend
- 2015 Estate Sparkling Catawba
- Red Oak Creek – Traminette and Norton blend
- 2013 Estate Cabernet Franc
- 2014 Estate Cabernet Franc
- 2013 Estate Reserve Cabernet Franc
- 2013 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon
- 2014 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon
- 2013 Estate Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
- 2014 Estate Norton
Owner and wine maker, Seth Meranda, indulged me with side by side tastings of the Cab Francs and Cab Sauvs. My favorites were:
- 2014 Estate Cabernet Franc
- 2013 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon
- 2014 Estate Norton
Although she was busy with preparations for the evening’s dinner, we also got to meet and visit with Seth’s wife, Maura. Their youngest son, Ben, took a special interest in Aary’s naturalist career.
We had made our wine selections and were about ready to leave, when Seth invited us out to the warehouse. We were thrilled to be able to partake of barrel tastings of the following:
- Chardonnay
- Norton
- Cabernet Franc
- Cabernet Sauvignon
- Norton/Cabernet Franc blend
We had a fantastic time and I look forward to revisiting this summer and introducing Bushmaster to this winery. Thank you Seth and Maura! We will see you soon!
