Another great wine tasting a Party Town! Our options for the day were:
- Save Me, San Francisco Wine Co.’s Bulletproof Picasso from California – 2014 Sauvignon Blanc
- Save Me, San Francisco Wine Co.’s Calling All Angels from California – 2013 Chardonnay
- Wind Gap Soif from North Coast California – 2015 Old Vine red blend of Carginan, Mourvedre, Negroamaro, Petite Sirah, Valdiguie, and Zinfandel
- Sandhi from Santa Rita Hills, Santa Barbara, California – 2012 Pinot Noir
Save Me, San Francisco Wine Co. has done it again. And again. Their Drops of Jupiter – California Red Wine has been one of my go to wines since I first tasted it. I haven’t found too many people that haven’t fallen in love with it. Their Hella Fine – Merlot isn’t too far behind. So I was excited to be able to try two more of their wines. Even if they were whites. I’m typically not a Sauvignon Blanc drinker and Chardonnay more often than not is a miss with me. I was amazed to discover both were quite enjoyable and will be ones I will seek out first the next time I am looking for a white wine.
For those who are familiar with the band, Train, these are their wines, each bearing the name of one of their songs. Save Me, San Francisco Wine Co. proudly donates proceeds from its sales to support Family House, a non-profit organization providing temporary housing to families of seriously ill children receiving treatment at the University Of California San Francisco Benioff Children’s Hospital.
I couldn’t wait to share these new discoveries with my daughter, Aary, who is a big fan, not only of the band, but the Drops of Jupiter and Hella Fine wines as well. She lives five hours away, so we took to the internet to find out where she might be able to find these wines so she could sample them. In the process we learned that there were even more wines we needed to find: California 37 – Cabernet Sauvignon, Marry Me – California Rose, and Soul Sister – Pinot Noir. We have a new mission!
Before I allow the Save Me, San Francisco Wine Co.’s wines to completely overshadow this tasting, I am also happy to say that the two remaining red wines were very well received at the tasting. Wind Gap Soif was my favorite of the day also though Sandhi was a close second. I had to go back and try both a second time before I declared Wind Gap Soif the winner.
There was no need for a revisit on either of the whites as there was no question as to how pleased I was with them. As I have said before, this was a great tasting!
